When fire occurs in your home ,
your chances of survival are twice as good when smoke alarms are present.
Smoke alarms when properly installed and maintained with manufacturer's instructions
provide early warning when a fire occurs

(1) For your protection, install smoke alarms in rooms, halls and bedroom areas of your home.

(2) Properly maintain your smoke alarms. Check them at least once per month. Change the battery each year unless the unit has indicated a flat battery. In this case change at that time.

(3) If alarm is activated, " investigate", if fire evacuate to a safe place and call 000 ask for the Fire Brigade and give them your address and nearest cross street.

If smoke from the kitchen caused from cooking has activated the alarm.
Fan smoke from the area and the alarm should stop.

(4) Develop an escape plan and review the plan frequently.
