Arizona Fire-Fighter EMT Brenda Johnson right speaks with Acting Community Fire Unit Co ordinator Karl Duesing at the Chullora NSWFB complex Sydney. Brenda visited the centre to gain information about Community Fire Units and how they function within our urban/bush communities.
While touring the centre Brenda met with the Commissioner Greg Mullins who welcomed her and her husband Ben Johnson to the complex. Brenda said that she was very impressed by our CFU programme and that as a fire-fighter knows that fire brigades can not be in all areas at the one time during a major wild fire incident. That training members of a community to start protecting their properties in the first instance until the arrival of fire services is a great step forward.
Chief Superintendent Jim Smith, Terry Munsey and Karl Duesing discussed the CFU programme with Brenda.
Brenda and her husband Ben were then given a full inspection of the centres work shops and HAZMAT areas.
Brenda also made a visit to some CFU teams around the Helensburgh and Stanwell Tops areas.
Brenda said that she had been greatly impressed by the helpful and friendly nature of all the NSWFB members during her visit.
